  • Don't even try to crank it until you have drained the tank and flushed the fuel system and filled it with diesel. With the increased compression of a diesel engine design and the increased volatility of gasoline, you have created a potentially dangerous situation. Don't anything else stupid, and I can say that because I did the opposite with a Jeep a few years back, not intentionally but due to fatigue and exhaustion after weeks of being on the road and poorly marked pumps at a Shell station in Ozona, Texas. It happens.
  • drain the gas and replace your fuel filters.fill the trk w/ diesel and start it w/o using the accelerator.it might idle fast and rough for a few seconds but it will be fine.
  • Agreed, listen to both answers above, otherwise you have a giant paper weight now.
  • do not crank it. have the tank drained. if you crank it, the fuel pump will pull all the deisel in the fuel line out and once the gasoline reaches the engine, the engine will run away. in other words, your deisel engine will rev sky high, and there will be no way to shut it off. theres no way to stop. it will only stop when it throws a rod. which means you will need a new engine. unless dodge has some kind of safety device to prevent this from happening, this is what an old deisel will do. so dont start it. hope this helps.
