  • Can be up to 12 weeks, just make sure it is prpoer red, more pussy kinda colour can mean infection and you will need to take her to the vet!
  • There are four phases in a bitch's cycle. 1. Pro-estrus: The most noticeable phase, usually some swelling of the vulva plus a clear discharge which then becomes bloody. This may only be spotty and most bitches keep themselves as clean as they can. Some may have a heavy discharge and no swelling, others may have little discharge but heavy swelling. This can last from 8 to 13 days. 2. Estrus: Is when normally the bleeding has stopped. The vulva is less turgid but still swollen and there maybe a clear or straw-colored discharge NOW is when the bitch is most likely open and willing to be bred and may seek out dogs and usually accept them. It lasts from 4 to 7 days. 3. Metestrus: Is when she will be starting to either grow puppies from breeding, may have a false pregnancy or not. 6 to 10 weeks for this. 4. Anestrus: which lasts about 15 weeks is the quiet period of variable duration when there is no activity in the bitch's reproductive tract. If your bitch was successfully bred...and you wanted her to be...she should no longer be bleeding if you have entered stage three...Metestrus. If she's still bleeding a few days after the breeding, or if the discharge has gone from the clear or straw color BACK TO the more thick, red blood color...you'd better take her to the vet now. It's possible that the dog tore something IN her and there could be a problem.
