  • Does your friend think you are a car? Cuz that makes me think of break pads.
  • Your friend is on the right track. The sound you are hearing is the hyaline cartilage in your knees cracking. As you age, the cartilage that pads your bones in your knees begins to break. Joint mice (which is the name of your condition) develops. The pieces then begin to move against one another creating the sound you hear when you stand up or uncross your legs. If it becomes too uncomfortable, make an appointment to see your local Orthopedic surgeon. He would be happy to fix the condition! Good luck!
  • it sounds to me that you are into alot sports.take a time out,go to your doctor and request to have some blood work, ruling out any serious problems. think of your knee as a bearing that may need some lubrication and is in need of some lubrication. i hyperextended mine in 1999 while playing hockey and to this day it cracks, not all the time but enough and thats as good as it will get,and it has to last me the duration.
  • I wish I could help you. My knees do the same thing when I climb stairs, or stand up from crouching. It does sound kind of like velcro, too, I never thought about that until you mentioned it.
