The face of the heavens, the horizon, was darkened when the Lord Jesus Christ was about to die on the cross (Luke 23:44); but it does not mean that there is extreme sorrows in heaven as others say. Anyone that does the will of God pleases him; and Anyone that transgress His will gives God the feeling of displeasure (Proverbs 15:8; Psalms 38:1). A person can, at one time, can experience the feeling of pleasure and displeasure; of sadness and joy. In a graduation ceremony, a graduate is glad that he or she had accomplished his or her dream of being what he or she wanted to be; but at the same time, is sad because he or she will be separated from his or her friends and beloved schoolmates. When my mother died, I have a feeling of mixed emotions. I am saddened by the death of my mother because I love her very much; but at the same time, I am happy because she will now have her well-deserved rest before the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, and I believe that she will be one of those who will be resurrected in the last day to inherit eternal life. The same possibility can be happening in heaven or in the kingdom of God, the time that the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was about to die on the cross, God is pleased because finally, His will that mankind be redeemed from sins was accomplished by His beloved Son. He also is sorry, and saddened at the same time because of the rejection of the wicked and their crime which caused the pain and agony of God’s beloved Son (Matthew 6:10; John 3:19-20; Hebrews 5:7-9).
