  • I would think that is just the nature of most politicians...they want to appeal to the people so the people will vote for them...if they didn't then what is the point of running?
  • I wouldn't say that appealing to irrational emotions and instincts in people is the inherent nature of politicians. There are plenty of politicians who've based their campaigns on policies that are actually good for the people, and trusted that such policies would naturally appeal to common sense. And yes, I do think that George W. Bush is a demagogue. Just look at things like the "Homeland Security Administration", and how his administration has tried to justify wars, torture, and dozens of other atrocious acts (Many of which we don't even know about yet, seeing as how one of these acts is the withholding of important information as to what exactly they're doing) by appealing to people's fear of terrorist attacks. A perfect example of this fear-mongering is the colour-coded "Terror Threat Level Gauge". Just about any psychologist can tell you that when something as simple and primal as colours is used to convey an idea, the intent is probably to get people to ignore the factual details and react instinctively to the emotional connotations of the colours.
  • that is definately most politicians. it seems to me like hilary clinton did it a lot.
