Why do we always have to pick a favorite ? can't we like all the things in general?

Because liking things in general makes you kinda wishy-washy. It doesn't give any dimension to your character or define who you are in any way. If I tell you I like cauliflower and unicorns and rainbows and kindness it gives you a small inkling of who I am. If I say I like vegetables and fantasy characters, nature and character traits it is too general to give you any idea who I am. So it depends..do you want to get to know who people really are by knowing what they like, or not?

I would like to sit here and say yes ,but that would make me a lier!! We choose our favorites because that makes them special to us !! If they were just general we wouldnt go out of our way to get it,(material items) or spend time with it ( best Friends) !!
