i do care about near and dear ones. i do care about strangers as individuals but........the society as a whole its a ahmmmm..

I care about my friends and family and generally with other people I operate a live and let live policy, but if someone gets in my way or pisses me off then I am the sort of person that would make a huge scene out of it and have a public verbal fight. I do not get embarrassed easily!

Absolutely! If I didn't care,well, I guess I would think of myself as selfish,self centered,and be ashamed of myself(personal opinion) If I can assist anyone(as others have me in the past) I would rather give to help them,not just keep what I have been given and hoard it all for myself. Care and sympathy/empathy are close friends.If I can sympathize with someone else,maybe I can identify the feeling in me,then I would be empathizing. Care for another is sharing something special,to give instead of receive.

You should care.. but not TOO much. The two extremes here are complete egoist and complete people pleaser. And if we put these two in the two ends of a spectra, the best place to be is in around the middle.
