Despite a lot of research I cannot find the name of the book in any of the biographical material. All that is mentioned is that Pete Seeger had written it: "...After later teaching herself to play guitar with the aid of a Pete Seeger instruction book, she went off to art college, and became a fixture on the folk-music scene around Alberta...." http://www.vh1.com/artists/az/joni_mitchell/bio.jhtml Several other sites provide the same info, but no more. Since Joni was born in 1943, she would have been college age in about 1961, and there is a possibility that Seeger's book "Henscratches and Flyspecks", which taught the fundamentals of reading music may have been the book Joni used, since it was written before 1961. Most of Seeger's other books I can find info about were written much later.
