Childbirth...no. However, working with adolescents and teen moms; I think that to some extent pregnancy itself has.

Depends on how long the labor was. I had four daughters who really wanted to be born quickly. My first daughter was born 30 minutes after the first labor pains started, my 2nd was born 20 minutes after first pains, my third was born 15 minutes and my fourth was born in 7 minutes after first labor pains. The doctors said they never saw anything like it. I couldn't even get an epidural because it all went so fast. Basically I had dream births. Now my best friend labored for 32 hours and then had to get a C-section. She said childbirth was highly overrated.

Somewhat- Like when people call it a "beautiful miracle" when in reality it's a natural process that is painful and very messy. The concept may have some beauty, but the experience is far from it! Field of flowers, sunset over the mountains, tropical waterfall, woman giving birth- nope, the last one just does not fit. :)

Quite the opposite. Its been de-romanticised.
