Astronomy is the scientific study of the universe. Astrology is the unscientific belief that the positions of the planets somehow can effect our lives. Astrology is not based on any proven facts. To me you might as well spend your time reading the comic pages in the newspaper as wasting your time with Astrology.

It might be superstition (just like belief in God), but it is not baseless: just like religions have teachers, so do astrologers. It is a religion sort of like Hinduism is a religion -- "anything goes" -- there is not much warfare between the factions -- and there is no exact moral code that you have to follow. Some people argue that astrology is not scientific -- but science too is a religion -- scientists only believe in what their measuring sticks can measure, and they'll only bother measuring something if there's an economic incentive.

Astrology in the newspapers are often placed in the comics and crossword game selection, so it is obviously placed there for the same reasons as the articles or comics surrounding it, in other words, it is for entertainment. You can't expect anyone to know everything that will happen to your life, what about the other people? It is just common sense. Daily horoscopes is just a small part of a whole. It could be a science.. maybe in the metaphysics section.

The notion that the stars positions from millions of light years away have any influence on us is ludicrous. If they do, then there is some very interesting physics going on there I'm sure all physicists would love to get their hands on... Realistically, the electric field from a mobile phone, monitoring equipment, etc, in the room you were born in would have significantly more influence than the EM field of a star.

Astrology is a pseudo-science. It's certainly not a religion, and it's certainly not science. It is something that (now) attempts to make itself appear to be scientific, but it's not. Thus, pseudo-science.

I would say that it depends on the person. It could be both, either, or none. I see religion as our beliefs, our purpose for being here, religion is a part of our daily lives... Some people study the bible for their answers, some put their faith in the astrology. Science is more a study of the facts, a search for things that can be visibly proven. If a person is studying the stars based on their physical characteristics, then it is science.

It's pseudo-science crap with no basis in rational thought.

You should really read this: http://www.futuroception.com/Futuroception%20scientists%20versus%20astrologers.pdf
