How do you feel when you are talking to someone and they start imitating your body language?

I laugh when I figure it out. I don't realize what I'm doing, especially with my hands, when I'm speaking sometimes.

There are very few people who have the balls to do that in front of me, being a 20 yr. Marine veteran, but they do sometimes try to imitate my voice, as it is very deep, and still has the bite of military bearing to it despite early retirement. I just laugh with them. You can't just go around smacking those who have it coming.........at least that's what the judge says......;)

When people do it to me, I think they've read some kind of self-help book. It's supposed to be a 'make-you-like-me' technique. I think it only works if the other person doesn't know about the technique. ~~~ On the flip side, you sometimes see very reflexive mirroring happening with couples in the early stages of a relationship - I find that kind of cute to watch.

I laugh and try to stop and move on. I'm usually the one imitatading people, though.

Your question made me laugh out loud. No one has ever disrespected me in this way yet. I guess it's because I speak with my mouth only and not together with my body.
