Not to put too fine a point on it, but there is no proposal to "give" licenses to illegals. The proposal is to allow them to take the same test other residents do, and to be sure they know the rules of the road, since they are driving anyway, even without licenses. The total number of drivers without licenses (citizens and illegals together)is estimated at 20%. Personally, I believe there should be a special I D just for people who enter this country without papers, and it should be issued by the Immigration office. They are only "illegal" because the immigration rules make it nearly impossible to become "legal".

Yes. Because without the license they will drive without one as well as definitely uninsured, Do I like the idea they are even here? NO! They're illegal. An illegal in my community to me is the same as having a home grown thief, murder, sex offender or similar. They're illegal. They do not fit or abide by societies laws.
