  • Yes it did, a boy back in high school nearly 3 years ago was murdered by some Chicano gang bangers.
  • Ted Bundy's Florida escapades. Yea it made a few headlines. Then we fried his ass in "old sparky"
  • I live about two blocks from where Ted Bundy used to live. I'm not sure if he killed anyone around here exactly, but, I've been to the park where he kidnapped some girls.
  • A cop was under investigation for the disappearance of a local girl, who was pregnant with his child at the time of her disappearance. It didn't make national headlines, but her picture is still hanging in the front of all the stores and gas stations, and banks...basically anywhere that is public, for everyone to see. The mother won't allow the police to close the case, until her daughter is found.
  • We were living in Modesto, CA, not far from the Peterson house when the whole Laci Peterson case erupted into the news. It turned a pretty mellow central valley town into a media circus for month after month. I had seen Scott Peterson around town before all the craziness as well, and it makes me feel kind of creepy now that I was that close to a murderer in the store or wherever.
  • Pacific NW of the US! We have more serial killers per capita than anyone. Bundy, Green River, The Canadian guy that would come down and take women to his pig farm and kill them, The Vietnamese guy that was a serial arsonist that killed about 8 people. Geez, it's sadly hard to keep track. Who knows how many more are lurking.
  • A girl 2 streets up put her new born baby in the garbage can and only received 7 years jail term........justice system wasn't working that day.
  • Back in '77 three little girls were murdered in their tents while at girl scout camp. The camp isn't very far from where I live. It was all over the news back then. they caught the guy and he died in prison.
  • Nothing happens here very often so ill answer based on where I grew up. A police man was shot dead, point blank range, one shot, shot gun. EVERYONE in the estate knew who did it but no one would tell the police, eventually they sentenced a guy to 15 years but they got the wrong guy! There was also a few drive by shootings, one of which I was involved in! I was sitting on a friends porch when a BMW pulled up and automatic gun fire started screaming out of the rear window! The guy sitting about 50cm from me was shot through the eye and out the back of the head, 2 other people were shot but not fatally. This was due to the father of my then friend owing over 30 million pounds to a drug barron because a shipment he was in control off was confiscated in the North Sea. The fact he was in prison at the time did not stop these crazy people! This was in Hackney, London, UK.
  • The jail in our county caught fire back in May of 2002. Not really a crime per say, but it did make the national headlines...All 8 inmates were killed that night. The weekend before, I had done my last weekend for my DUI I had gotten in 2000...Someone was watching over me and I'm so thankful.
  • When I lived in Cabramatta in the 80s, our local MP was assassinated. It was a local politician who could not buy the MP off, so got him killed. Yes, it made national headlines, as it is the only political assassination that has happened in Australia.
  • well it wasnt really a crime? well sort of. but the virginia tech shooting that happened was in my hometown. it didnt make national news but it was all over the us. like im so close to it i could hear everything that was going on. all the ambulances and stuff. if you dont know about this just google virginia tech shooting it is the largest school shooting since columbine.
  • It was the murder of 1 year old twin boys. They were handed around the extended family to be looked after and everyone had their turn physically abusing them. They were eventually battered to death. It made international headlines.
  • Robert Marshall murdered his wife in 1985 (I think) on the Garden State Parkway. He was a friend(?) of my sister and my mother. He was the subject of the book and the film "Blind Faith". He lived in Toms River, New Jersey, USA, a nearby town. He is still on New Jersey's death row. He said he stopped at a rest stop on the GSP to check a tire with low air and unknown assailants shot and killed Maria Marshall, his wife. When my mother told me about it, I said that he probably killed her. My mother thought otherwise because he was always complimenting her in an effort to sell her insurance. She thought he was a nice man, so she didn't talk to me for several months because she felt I had a rotten outlook on life. Marshall thought that the local police wouldn't investigate throughly because he was friendly with them. His sons were on the local high school swim team with my nephews and he often hosted pizza parties after the meets. My mother, reluctantly, changed her mind about him.
  • There have been lots of murders in my area, but hey it's NY and you just expect that. There was a shooting in 1981 of a Brinks security guard and a police officer by some radical group that was robbing a bank. Then there have been some notorious bloddy murders of young people, parents of a druggy, a Russian scientist, gas station attendants. Not far from me some guy drove in his truck with dead bodies.. I think his name was Joel Rifkin.
  • We have the Sexton House. The family with incest and the father had babies with his daughters and when they didn't survive, they had rituals and ate the babies *gag* Theres a book called House of Secrets by Lowell something about it. Theres a pond in front of the house that people want to have cleaned out but the city won't pay for it so there could be people and whatnot in there. They fled to Florida and killed someone but the descendents are still here in town. Also if you heard about Jessie Davis, the pregnant girl who was murdered by the cop. That was right here too. It was sad. Anyone heard of either of those?
