  • Can you jump it?
  • The new starter may be loose, and if it is it won't make the connection, make sure the bolts are tight on the starter. The wires coming from the starter to the battery may be bad or not fully connected as well, check the connection and make sure all is tight and on properly. If you are able to jump start the car, then the battery may not be holding a charge, which can happen to a battery once the weather turns cold, even a new one. If it has a bad cell, the problem will show up when it gets cold. Get the battery tested to be sure it is ok. They usually can do it at Kragen or Napa, etc.
  • Clicking means there is insufficient power to turn the starter. In other words, your battery is dead. Like avallach said, try to jump it. If this does not work, then you have a loose connection somewhere, or a more serious problem. A new battery should be fully charged but it may be faulty or it may have sat on the shelf long enough to self-drain by the time you bought it.
