  • This has been changed since the question was asked...but the new sorting formula is simply done by point the user has earned for their answers in that category!
  • Hi Quirkie, I know this is an old question, but, I figured I could elaborate on Joels answer a bit... As I understand, you need at least 5 answers in a specific category, with points. You also need to have more points in that specific category than the existing expert, ( if there is one...) , and expert titles do not come from points derived from questions, or moderation points, only answers. Community Leaders have confirmed this much for me. I also found this out not too long ago - If your answers are downrated, the points dont get deducted from your overall totals, BUT, they can effect your expert status in a specific category. I asked a question about this, and I was told that under certain circumstances, that can be considered to be a form of an attack, and should be reported. I hope this is helpful.
