I've wondered that same thing because I've heard a few people say they'd never vote for anyone named Obama. A few days ago another candidate confused his name with "Osama". I think he loses some votes because of his name, but I think his inexperience is more of a factor.

His name means no different if it were Fred Thompson or Stephen Colbert. She just has the Clinton name which is pulling attention her way just like little Bush did because of affiliation with his daddy. The American voter seems to be conservative in the brand of politician they choose, whether Democratic or Republican. They are afraid of new things. November 2008 aught to be interesting but I bet if that Ron Paul might gets more pull, he can draw more people to follow him. He's the wild card.

I don't think so. He is as close to being a viable candidate for the U.S. highest office as Michael Moore is to telling the truth. Not even close.

for me, I think it's a matter of experience that's the issue. I know there are some people who hear the name Obama, and confuse it with Osama...and also assume that he is Muslim, and further equate all Muslims as being extremist terrorists. One confusion often leads to an assumption leads to a stereotype, etc.....

No. I think the fact that he refuses to place his hand on his heart or to even recite the pledge of allegiance to the flag, his self-professed Muslim-ism, and his profound inexperience in running ANYthing, even a small company or a library, much less a country, is having more negative impact than just his name. I sincerely hope that people who have considered voting for him will conduct their own research before doing so.
