Back in its early, heyday it was excellent - more neighborhoody and more festive....in the early 80s. Now it is great that it is televised but it is too crowded, too vast and you never really get to appreciate all the costumes as it rushes by and many of the costumers seem to blend together. I haven't gone in person in many years. +
