Black Jade. My husband likes to bring me jade if he can find it when he travels. He once brought me a necklace, which was a simple silver chain with a big heart made of black jade from Guatemala. It is by far my favorite.

Other than diamonds? Diamonds wouldn't be on my list of favorites at all. There are so many beautiful gemstones, it's hard to pick a favorite, especially since I probably have hundreds of differnt ones in supply as I make jewelry. I love the shades of garnet, including the greens, and the hues of labradorite. I think carnelian is one of my favorites. I just purchased some moonstone that's breathtaking. So hard to choose.

emeralds are beautiful, as well as the dark blue saphire, it is so deep and rich in just a small piece, like it commands your eyes to look at it ^^D. My birthstone is topaz, and its hard to find one that looks anything remotely beautiful.. however onyx is nice too, so dark and endless.

My favorite are opals -- which also happens to be my birthstone (October). I remember seeing the most extraordinary display of gemstones and minerals at the Museum of Natural History in Los Angeles when I was a child, and being awestruck by a black opal that was (at the time)about the size of my fist...

Onyx is probably my favorite.
I like it because even though it doesnt exactly "shine" like the other jems, it has a bold color, and can be carved into a wide variety of shaped that really suit the color. (Or rather instead of color I should say darkness)
