  • I tend to agree with your doctor. The popping sound comes from the sudden expansion of gas in your synovial fluid when two joint surfaces suddenly pull apart thus creating a vacuum. Your joint anatomy may be such that the ligaments holding the bones together at the joint may not be as strong as in normal people, or the bones may be a bit misaligned with each other, and the risk of dislocation may be a bit higher. Exercises strengthening muscles of your arms may help reduce the risk.
