It doesn't matter how many times you kick the glass i.e. twice or three times as long as it brakes when necessary -- get er' done!

I think you need to get over this obsession you have about fire alarms. Please see your school counsellor about this.

I've installed a few emergency break glasses in my time. The ones I installed could be pushed in with your fingers without risk of cutting your fingers. In fact they were quite annoying as it was easy to break them while trying to install them. I guess that applies to all of them but I can't guarantee it.

If you were concerned that you were going to cut yourself, put your top, or your sleeve over your hand when pressing it.

I would think you should break the glass with your well covered elbow rather than your hand as the chances of cutting your ulnar or radial arteries are greater using your hand whereas the subclavian artery is more likely to be protected by your elbow. Kicking is better than dying of smoke inhalation or massive burns. I would NOT kick in and up - you're begging to sever an artery that way as well. Kick straight in then carefully pull out.

Break the glass with your elbow.

Update the fire alarm system. All the new ones have a lift panel now.

You could take wrap your hand in a thick piece of clothing and punch.
