no.

According to Wikipedia yes, every fifteen days. Sad.

So the average number of jumpers is 19 per year since the bridge opened in 1937. That averages out to once every 19 days. There have been 1218 deaths on the bridge in its lifetime. (Of course, that's the official number. There could be many many others who were not witnessed, and whose bodies were not found.) Here's some reading for you... the first one is an article. The second is a chart of suicides by year, and the third is a diagram that shows the number of jumps from each section of the bridge. The middle is definitely the most popular. http://tinyurl.com/2wjlj8 http://tinyurl.com/2unlfa http://tinyurl.com/3ymvdv For those of you who haven't been there - the reason most of the jumps have been on the east side of the bridge is that the walkway on the west side of the bridge is used for bicyclists only. Pedestrians are limited to the east side of the bridge.

an estimated 25 deaths a year is averaged at once per every 15 days. Yes but this is only estimated by the bodies recovered not by those swept out through tides and they say that it could very well be doubled the number.

Tourist to Ranger on Golden Gate, "Do people jump off the bridge very often?" Ranger, "Nope, only once!"
-
Yikes, that's awful. I don't know if it's true. We just had one go by jumping off an interstate bridge (onto more interstate... as if the drop wasn't enough, he also got hit by a semi). Sad, sad stuff.
-
no, but they did make a documentary about people jumping off....
-
Its true. in 2004 that was the exact number.

I have seen this documentary. It is VERY depressing. People seem to be attracted to the bridge. San Fransisco is putting up a net in order to catch people who decide to jump. http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599,24481124-2,00.html

with things like this.. I am not surprised...

Because they can. And in some cases, should.
