    $500 or less is paid out by the retailer where you purchased the ticket. You still have to fill out the form(s)if its six numbers or five. Since the locations are different with each participating state, the answer would vary. Your local retailer would have all the information your asking for. Some advice. Don't Spend any cash for one year. (build up those reserves.)Invest wisely.

    In America, small lottery prizes are usually paid by lottery retailers. Prizes over a certain dollar amount (which varies from state to state) generally requires the person holding the winning ticket to go the state lottery office, usually located in the capital city.

    I believe that multi-state lottery prizes are handled the same way.
