Yes, there are applications called key loggers that record every key stroke. Additionally, the browser cache can be viewed to see the browsing history, if it hasn't been wiped after your session.

Hi an application called 007 spyware is a good tool for this. It logs keystrokes, takes screenshots and logs visited websites. The app also runs in hidden mode so no-one should know its there.

To cope with your actual problem (friends deleting your history - your comment of "Scubabob" answer), I suggest you create a special account for your friends so that they get their own environment. This should be possible with Windows XP, for instance. You don't need one account per friend, a unique guest account will be sufficient.

Yeah, I don't recommend keyloggers because they are dubious in their niceness to other human beings. But you can record your output, that is whatever appears on your monitor. There is an application intended for gamers called GameCam that works just that way without getting new hardware. Alternatively, you could consider that the only reason your friends might be deleting your history is because they don't want you looking at theirs. Likely this is because of e-mail in which case creating their own guest environment would be ideal. On the other hand, if you install a parental control blocker like WeBlocker, you may find that your friends like using your computer much less often. Incidentally, some parental control blockers also keep recorded history of websites, like a keylogger, without the troublesome possibility of stealing personal information.
