As far as my experiences go it is something to that effect. The pain part is debateable but seeing black just about always happens.

No it is not true. this is a very controversial subject some people think that all you see is darkness and feel pain when you see the devil however in my experiences that is not the case the devil uses trickery to try and win you over he does not want you to see what he really is he will show himself as an outstanding person with great compassion for others while using his demons to make your life a living hell he will run them off leading you to believe he is the answer to your prayers.
