  • No, I'm fairly sure anyone can understand me without my consideration ;). And if you can't, learn to use google.
  • I use the proper language and may simplify it as well if need be. I only use bigger words in questions that warrant them, like questions about science, as then you need to use proper terms and explain them as well. Otherwise, I moderate my word usage the same as when I am talking in person.
  • I try to make my answers short and simple, yet understandable.
  • No word is ever too large for any bagger. The people here are much smarter than the average Internet user.
  • I use words that everyone knows. At least everyone should know them. Dictionary.com helps with that. But I also use words that aren't actually words, like: gonna wanna outta dunno d'ya what're (which I think actually might count) ain't 'cause and a myriad of "-ing"s shortened to "-in'"s I like to type how I would talk. That way, you know what it would be like to talk to me in person. Also it can help to translate inflections that would be hard to understand in type.
  • Nope. I talk as I speak. I will dumb things down if either I go over your head and you ask for clarification OR if I feel that you are being either to stubborn or too stupid and I feel I HAVE to simplify my vocabulary to get my point across.
  • I don't go out of my way to use $2 words...but I also don't edit myself. I like to say exactly what I think and to do so one needs to use the "perfect" word..if someone doesn't understand a word I use, he/she can either look it up or ask me..I've had to look up words others have used. I think it helps educate us. Now, if I read a question that uses a bunch of words that people never would use in real life, I figure that person is trying to impress me so I ignore that question..I am not impressed by the words people use, but by the content of the question/answer/comment. :) I think not using the word that really states your thinking is unfair to potential responders because it means you think they aren't educated enough to understand what you are saying so that would actually be insulting them. :(
  • I routinely endeavor to eschew obfuscation.
  • No. I have a better vocabulary today thanks to people who did not "dumb down" their words so I could understand them. So no, I use whatever word is most appropriate, even if some people don't get them. I still sometimes hear or read a word that I don't know and so I look it up. No big deal. Everyone has a dictionary... or should. Personally, especially these days and ESPECIALLY amongst young people, I think it's important that we help raise everyone's vocabulary, not decrease it even more.
  • I try to "type" in a manner best befitting my mood. That is to say that althought sometimes my answers are lengthy and imbued with larger words, there are, inevitably answers which are written in a much more simplified manner. I do possess an extensive vocabulary, due to my mother's urgings to randomly pick one word from the dictionary and put it to proper use five times within a day. Every day brought about a new word. I even started looking for larger, more complicated words. I found it quite fun. I urge everyone to try it! Sometimes I just feel goofy and I write simple, no-frill answers. However, I prefer use of the complicated speech I consider it to be more proper.
