I don't think so. Bush is at the twilight of his term. He would not gain anything from it.

Don't know why he would (?) He is not up for re-election, you know. He is going out. Why do people think everything GW does is "political"? I would think they would know that everything the 'candidates' do and say are..."political". They are the ones fighting over the right to sit in Lincoln's chair and sleep in his bed. And we would have to "find" bin Laden to keep him alive....I happen to think he is probably dead,..of kidney failure. And we know most of his known henchmen are dead...because we killed them. So what are we doing still mucking around in the deserts of Iraq and Afghanistan. I have no clue. That is where GW and I parted company. You goofed, GW. Sadaam was a bad guy, but we had him on a leash. He was our pet dog. He wasn't going anywhere or doing anything. But, of course, it wasn't just GW who goofed. The whole Congress did. We would not be in Iraq without the Congressional Resolution. So, you are angry? Then fire your own Reps and Senators! You elected them.

This makes a lot of sense to me -- President George W. Bush may be a lame duck, but he often showed that with deft use of the "Osama card" he can still wield a powerful political hand. Osama tapes have emerged periodically since September 11, 2001 at critical 'political moments' in fact, Bin Laden usually surfaces around election time with a purpose to remind us that there are terrorists. Isn't it fascinating how the immortal Bin Laden always publishes his videos at the most opportune moments? -- There is nothing like fear to keep a government in power -- Please note that former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, plays off of the terrorism card as well, promising to 'ensure that every community in America is prepared for terrorist attacks' if he gets elected. If Bin Laden was caught, (or dead for that matter), it would severely deflate the neo-cons war on terror, and that could provoke the American people to express a stronger voice about leaving Iraq, and in objection to George W. Bush's spending like a drunken sailor for a sensless war, and Americans might even move to repeal the Patriot Act -- Such a thing would surely be considered as a disaster for the current administration.

Yes, to make himself look even *more* inept. Smoooth move, Exlax.

Catching Osama Bin Laden was not really George W. Bush's goal, but keeping Americans in a perpetual state of fear, was. Just months after declaring he wanted Bin Laden “dead or alive,” Bush said, “I truly am not that concerned about him.” Turning his attention away from bin Laden, Bush trained his focus on Iraq, a country he now admits had nothing to do with 9/11.

I imagine the coalition forces have probably known of Osama's whereabouts from time to time, Osama is probably a tool used by politicians to gain a more fluid transition through periods of economic downturn, a bit o' war is always good for the economy as they say. plus Osama as an idea; in countries where iliteracy is high and religious tensions are at boiling point adds fuel to the fire, providing the Coalition with a divided set of countries who require a heavy military presence to keep a lid on things.."divide and conquer" In terms of "keeping Osama alive" i doubt this is the case-but he is certainly used to promote xenophobia and anxieties in both western and eastern mindsets.

I doubt it but would not put it past him, after all he is part of the republicratic party who has stolen our government by convincing us that they are 2 parties. they have betrayed the "government of the people, by the people and for the people" to powers both foreign and domestic.
