  • Did you check to makes sure your new alternator was connected properly? You should measure about 12.5 volts at the battery while the car is off. After your car starts, the reading should jump between 13.5 to 15.1 volts. If not, then your new alternator may still have been faulty or your alternator wire harness or white ground wire to the alternator was not securely connected. When your Engine Light comes on, error codes are also produced by your car's computer to help you troubleshoot the problem detected. Go to your local auto parts store and borrow/buy an OnBoard Diagnostic 2 scanner and plug the cable in the port underneath your dashboard to determine what new problem your car has discovered.
