For those who crochet: If I have a project that I haven't worked on in a long time, and I know I used a different size hook than the pattern called for, how can I find out which size I used?

You can use trial and error by trying different size hooks and see which one comes closest to what you have done already.

You have to use a hook that will give the results you want. It doesn't matter what size you used "before"

That's hard for me too, to come back and try to match up my work. But I like working with crochet in the winter, so I will usually pack up the hook with the incomplete work.
