In most states, if you have three moving violations within 12 months, your drivers license will be revoked or suspended. if you drive a vehicle, in your occupation, you will most likely lose your job. A heavy foot can cause much sorrow.

Do you think it's right to lock people up for firing a loaded gun randomly into a crowd, even if the bullets never hurt any one? The first time you were warned. The second time you were warned. You Just HAD to get drunk and drive a third time. Yes, it was stupid. Now, you are learning that actions have consequences. And I have no sympathy for you.

Welcome to the real world. Are you now beginning to get the idea and learning that if you break the rules, the punishments that follow really DO apply to you? The price for ignoring this very simple rule is your job and whatever fines and jail you may have in your future. If you decide to test this rule in the future, you will get to pay the price again! It would be easier to just learn it and stop risking MY life by playing dangerously on the roadway.

Stop driving drunk, stupid.

Yes, I do think it's right to lock people up. It's meant to be a preventative measure, and also a punishment for not following rules you'd been told twice before. You may not have hurt anyone this time, but next time you could. Ask anyone who has ever been in a car accident and has injured themselves and/or injured/killed someone else. They would MUCH rather have gone to jail and got the wake-up call than killed/injured someone else.

Spend money on a good attorney and try to negotiate for a higher fine. The Government a.k.a. the mob will let you slide with a hefty fine. I suggest you take it and pay it over time usually one year. A judge will not want to see you go in jail over something like that but remember: Do not do it again and money talks

My uncle was locked up for 10 years for vehicular manslaughter after driving drunk, and he says there isn't a day that he doesn't regret it. We all know that we were young and stupid at some point, but this is what CAN happen. We hope it don't happen to us but when you keep playing cards eventually the house is going to win. AND LETS NOT FORGET THE FACT THAT YOU OBVIOUSLY ARE NOT A GOOD DRUNK DRIVER. IT IS NOT WORKING FOR YOU. If you get a DUI, that is something that happens to a lot of people, (I have actually gotten charged even though I blew BELOW the legal limit-explain that)but I think things happen for a reason-this may prevent you from killing someone-and dont say it cant happen cuz it can-they tried this the suspended way, the pay a fine way, and that didn't keep you off the road drunk, so doesn't logic dictate the next stronger course of action, i.e. jail?

Just saw a few more answers here. I got 6 months in jail back last November a 4 year ban and a fine so I paid the price. Being locked up was the worst times in my life - especially over Christamas and New Year - and I hated jail. I lost my job too and won't be driving for years. You might think I deserved it but I think I got treted harshly.

3rd time? Sorry bud no sympathy for you here!

At this point, it doesn't matter that you never hurt anyone. You didn't hurt anyone the first two times, and that's why you were let off easy. What you're being punished for this time isn't just the speeding, but also not learning your lesson. You repeatedly risked other people's lives (and your own) unnecessarily. You say that you know you were stupid to do it, but frankly that doesn't ring true because you'd been caught twice before and you kept doing it anyway. Obviously you didn't learn your lesson, so obviously your punishment should be more severe this time in the hopes you realize that speeding isn't worthwhile. If it were up to me, I wouldn't put you in jail. In my opinion jail should only be for people who pose a threat to other people. Since you don't pose a threat to other people except for when you're in your car, I'd simply take your car away. I'd also take away your license for 10 years, and if in 10 years you want to drive again, you'd have to start at the very beginning with the licensing and driving lessons. Driving isn't a right, it's a privilege, and since you've been irresponsible you don't deserve that privilege anymore.
