They DO use other words though...
-
I don't know. I've never used it though...too tacky!
-
Its terms of endearment. You can say sweety or hunni or something like that. Baby and Babe don't sounds so painful to say though.
-
because if we say "hey wench", women seem to get mad
-
I despise being called "babe" as a nickname (if he wants to call me A babe, that's fine, haha). My fiance' and I use "honey" a lot though and that's ok : )
-
I love it when my bf says things like hey babe, its how I can tell if he’s in a good mood or not, usually he will say stuff like hey gorgeous where’s...? Or hey beautiful where’s…? It makes me feel good. On the other hand my best friend HATES the mushy gushy stuff like that so I guess it depends on the woman. =D

In real life, as opposed to television and films, I've hardly ever heard men call their wives or girlfriends those names. The ones I have heard use those names have been quite domineering individuals.
-
Well, they could call you "douche" if you like, but that would be worse I guess. Really, you just have to be more forceful. "From now on you call me 'ma'am' or 'Captain.'" Cleared that problem right up.
-
Because they dont like being called the other "B" name?
-
Quote from Sheepingly needs no handy men only hugs. "Most men use baby or babe." Well Most Women are SKankS!! rawR! You can put us all in one group. thats bias.
-
It's just a popular saying, like "Dude", or "Man...".
-
My wife called me "babe" first and I just adopted it for her. I am always calling her by saying, "hey, babe." Now, I have offended some ladies by referring to my wife as, "my woman." I guess they look at it as a claim of ownership or anticipate that I am going to pound on my chest. My wife likes it when I call her my, "woman" or "wife." Her previous S/O used the less complimentary pronouns so prevelent in today's society (i.e.: "bitch," "main squeeze," or "whore"). God made woman to be a helper and I also call her my queen, and I also try to remember that a wife of noble character is her husband's crown. That is from Proverbs.
-
My guy calls me sweetpea or babydoll, lol..i like it.:)
-
I only get called babe as a compliment: "You're SUCH a babe!"
-
It's just a little nickname they use. I like being called "babe" and "baby", gives me more "butterflies" when he says it. Whatever type of couple you are(married, gf/bf, lovers, etc)having nicknames for each other makes it more personal and romantic.
-
I call my sweetheart Punkin.
-
My husband used to call me "Jizzum." Yes, the way you are thinking, we just didn't do typical terms of endearment.
-
I call my girlfriend Sweetie, Sweet pea or honey. I honestly don't remember the last time I used her real name and would probably feel strange using it.
-
I don't think men mean it the way we take it. we love it and to them it's a way of getting our attention.. The men that have called me that are just saying it.
-
I dont know why they do it, but I find it really annoying! I get annoyed when girls call me babe too, its sooooo annoying. I'm nooooobodys babe!lol.
-
Boy, the DRs I could generate with one or two ill-chosen words right now ... But ... Sweetie Honey Dear Darling Sugar And why isn't he doing his own laundry?
-
I usually call my wife by her name. We do not use endearing terms like "babe" or "baby". However I have a suggestion as to why this term. This is probably in relation to "babe" or "baby" as an object of tender loving care. I think some other names are used, like darling, etc.
-
I call my man baby when making love.....not daddy...that's sick....LOL....
-
i think it's cute it's a loveing term,it's allso usefull when you wake up and cant remember the girls name lol.
-
To most men, the most precious thing on earth is a baby. If a man really loves his wife or partner, its just a natural part of being a man to call her babe. It shows a really close relationship and a woman should not feel offended by this. Its an honor.
-
Hmm... I've never used the word myself but if I were to use it it would be for a few reasons; (women, note that I'm being as respectful as possible when I say this and I am in no way calling anyone of the female gender weak) But, something that comes with male instinct is the desire to protect those we love and care for. I'm not saying that women are infants, but rather, I feel women are more fragile physically and emotionally. Maybe this mindset drew out the nicknames "babe" and "baby." When you talk in a "baby voice" to an infant, it calms and soothes them, whereas calling a woman "babe" or "baby" would be said in a sweet, respectful manner, but could have the same effect... Maybe... That's just my opinion...
-
I don't kno why but what's the big deal?
-
if you call all womn babe, you cant get their names mixed up. My husband calls all womn sweety.
-
I use her name or "love".
-
I thinks its very sweet. It is a term of endearment. I like being called something special
-
What other word would you recommend... I could come up with a few
-
Because it's a term of endearment, and the woman inspires the same feeling of tenderness that babies do. I think it's sweet, but none of the guys that I dated ever called me that.
-
Because "Hey c*nt, where'd you put my socks?" might be a little off putting?
-
Easy to remember and not hey you.
-
My s/o never calls me babe, more like wench lol
