My love cannot leave a bad marriage because of his son. He is afraid she will meet someone who will not treat his son well or that his son will really like him. Their life is filled with apathy and mistrust. How can I make him see this is bad for his son?

Tell your “love” that his son knows very well that the relationship he has with his mother isn’t working and he is suffering in that environment. Also tell him, as my counselor told me, that if he gets out of the relationship with his wife and into a good one with someone else, that his son will have an opportunity to see what a good relationship should be. How old is the son? If his wife meets someone who mistreats his son, it isn’t that difficult to fix the problem by taking custody of his son. Is he ready for that? If he is concerned about his son liking his step father better that his father then he must have a lousy relationship with his son. He better work on that before he tries to have a relationship with you. I would question his capability to have a relationship with a woman if he can’t have a relationship with his son. Is he spending time with you and not with his son?? Watch out!

Tell Him, that the worst thing He can do to His son is make Him watch years of misery and hate between His parents.

He can just ask for the custody of his son. If he can proof that he's a good father.

He already knows a bad relationship between his wife and himself is not good for his son. He's using his son as an excuse to hang on to you AND his marriage. Do you wonder why his marriage is filled with apathy and mistrust? He's having an affair with you! If and when he gets with you, are you going to trust he isn't doing the same thing to you? Being someone's mistress is giving them permission to be unfaithful to you...and if he tells you he isn't having sex with his wife, then he's lying to you too. Get a man who is yours alone.
