it isn't very common. As I understand federal food laws, its illegal to sell wild venison, so they can only sell venison from farm raised deer. You can pay a meat processor to process deer you kill (legallY) into jerky or sausage or whatever and give it back to you, but they can't sell the meat. I have seen it mail order or through a few specialty stores. Cabela's sells it.
