With your doctor's permission, I would gradually start out slowly, if possible I'd begin first by consulting a professional physical therapist. If not, then I would do very light, easy workouts.

That depends on many things. like what kind of shape are you currently in? did you need physical therapy, if so for what? what is your current level of functioning? what type of injurys did you incur? Honestly it's probably best to speak to your doctor about what types of activities will be best for you. But your best bet is anything low impact that won't stress your joints. water aerobics is a good one. or maybe yoga.

PHYSICAL THERAPY!! I made the mistake of not thinking of doing physical therapy after bad seat belt injuries to my pelvic area, totally regret it now 2 years later! I have next to no muscle tone in my pelvic are or my legs...and got FAT! I was in really great shape before that, have next to no hope now. So, physical therapy!! They will be able to help you figure out what to do after your done with PT too!
