My husband, Richard, and I. I first fell in love with my husband when I was 15. I used to stare at the back of his head in Biology class. There was just something about him...you know? Anyway, he never noticed I was there and I was too shy to say anything. As time passed, we ran into each other from time to time as we had some friends in common, but never really spoke to each other except to say hello and the usual banalities. However; the more I knew of him, the more I knew he was the right one for me. Unfortunately, he married someone else and passed out of my life for a time. I also got married, had 2 children, got divorced, patched my life back together, and....ran into Richard in front of Target. 10 years had passed since we had last seen each other. But he recogmized me and we ended up talkng for about an hour. Turns out, he was getting divorced. He asked for my number and I gave it to him. I guess he called 2 days later, but my mom took the message, forgot to tell me, and it sat in the junk drawer for 3 months before I found it and returned his call. I invited him to my birthday party and....we were inseparable for about 1 1/2 years. But, he had not really gotten over his divorce and the timing just wasn't right so we parted. We saw each other on and off for the next several years, but either he was seeing someone or I was - it just never seemed to be right. To make a long story short, in 1999, my sister and I went to Italy. I was sitting in my hotel room in Rome when the phone rang. It was Richard. He told me he had always loved me and wanted to try again when I got back. I acted all cool on the phone, said I'd think about, got off the phone and danced around the room like a complete idiot. Needless to say, I came back, we got together, and got married in 2000. I have never been happier. We have a beautiful daughter and a great life. My sons love and respect him and he loves them back. I knew since I was 15 that he was it...it only took him 25 years to agree! Just goes to show it is never too late.
