  • In most cases it's a fuse. Take a look at the fuses under the dash (it should have a chart posted somewhere on or near them). See which one controls your dashboard lights and replace it with a fuse of the same power. You can by a bunch for about 5 or ten bucks. If you're not so lucky, it could be an electrical problem, maybe wiring. It's best to have someone who knows what they're doing handle it in this case (read: spending big money). Good Luck
  • After an extensive search (I have the exact same problem with my 1999 Honda Accord EX-V6 Coupe), the solution is not an expensive one (only $82.78+shipping+labour). Apparently, a recall was issued for the 2000 Accord for the exact problem we are facing. The problem lies with a part called the multiplex control unit. The Accord has two such units, one on the passenger side and one on the driver side. It is the driver side unit which has malfunctions and is causing our dash lights out problem. (I am assuming you have checked every fuse (both driver, passenger and under the hood areas). Using the following link: http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/auto/jsp/mws/prddisplay.jsp?inputstate=5&catcgry1=Accord&catcgry2=1999&catcgry3=4DR+EX&catcgry4=KL4AT&catcgry5=CONTROL+UNIT+%28CABIN%29 Illustration #11 is the part (multiplex control unit) you seek. Hope this helps
  • Did replacing the multiplex control unit fix your dash light problem? I have a 99 accord also and am having a similar problem. The dashlight comes on when the car starts; however, when I turn on the headlights at night time, the "D"drive light goes off and the night time dashlights does not come on. Therefore, the dashboard is totally dark. I have checked all the fuses (driver, passenger, and hood). Does anyone have any suggestions?
  • I had the same issue after replacing my factory radio. I had my Honda dealer replace my control unit, that was the problem. It set me back 350$. I dont understand why it went bad, I know I didnt short anything, my only idea is that I didnt disconnect the battery before I started, oh well, it was a 350$ lesson. David
