  • I don't have panels, but have done a lot of research and gotten an estimate for installing them. Depending on where you livem you might be eligible for tax credits for installing solar panels. Also, many utility companies will offer the ability to 'sell' power back to to the grid, so that you can still be on the grid for times when your solar power isn't sufficient, or when it's dark, cloudy, etc... Also, I have several friends who have installed the panels and say that with a knowledgeable contractor that the process is relatively painless, and did not damage their roofs.
