Why do women feel that they HAVE to wear make up? Do they not realize that fresh, unadorned skin has its own healthy glow that makes them beautiful?

I agree. I think its an evolutionary thing since in past women were supposed to look beautiful and men were supposed to be tough and strong

I believe it's a woman's way of distinguishing themselves from other woman -- especially used when finding a suitable male partner that will provide quality offspring i.e. good looks, health, social status etc..

women feel the need to wear makeup thanks to societal standards of beauty which are completely false and unatural. to some extent we all abide to these conditioning mechanisms sadly enough but some women do not wear makeup nor do they shave and remain with their natural beauty regardless of how flawed it may seem. and i applaud that.

I have never worn much makeup in my life. I am 31 and I have always just been too lazy to start a morning hooplah dedicated to painting my face.. then have to keep it up during the day .. oh no.. not this chick. Not out of lack of desire sometimes but because I simply rather sleep in later .. then get up and go. Packing my pores with foundation has never appealed to me either. I love lipgloss and I will outline my eyes but that is it. I will say that there are women out there who can apply makeup so professional looking that they really look sharp and beautiful.. and some are just as beautiful as the natural looking chicks. To each their own.

It is something I see dying out in todays world. Many are accepting the fact that beauty lies within. Although they still like to use a smaller amount to enhance the beauty already there. Like eyeliner to bring out the color more in their eyes. I personally love to see them in all their natural glory and beauty but some do not do this for others but for themselves.

If she wears them well, yes, they can certaintly help bring out the beauty. However, noce make-up and clothes won't make you beautiful unless you work at it. [inside and out]
