  • I don't really think anyone can benefit from the death of a peaceful man.
  • I don't think that Jesus sacrificed anything, and I don't believe in the concept of sin. I guess the practical benefit of the death of Jesus (if, in fact, He ever lived) is that He isn't on this Earth to correct people on what He actually said or didn't say. Thus, Christians throughout history have been able to oppress others using His teachings as justification. From a Christian perspective, the belief isn't that Jesus died to end sin. Jesus died as the ultimate blood sacrifice (Yahweh always required a blood sacrifice of an animal in atonement for sin, according to the Old Testament.) of a perfect human to pay for the sins of humans. Thus, the sins of humans have been atoned for, and can be forgiven. Christians believe that this saves them from eternal torment in Hell if they accept Jesus's blood sacrifice and ask for forgiveness in His name. They do not believe that the sacrifice of Jesus would or should remove sin from the world. Thus, the practical benefit is that believers do not go to Hell in the afterlife.
  • sin will always exist in the world, we are born with original sin because of adam and eve. Jesus came to earth to die (he knew it was what he had to do) so that our sins could be forgiven. of course he also came to preach the message of Christianity
  • That IS the point. Jesus didn't die to stop sin. He died to save us from it. When Jesus died, he was a sacrifice for our sin. Before him, Jews made sacrifices to God to get rid of their sin (the consequence of sin is death, so something had to die), but because Jesus, the only pure, sinless human, died with our sins, we are free. All we have to do is accept his gift.
