  • It could mean that the transmission had a defect prior to the impact. Contact Suzuki with model information - they can tell you if there is any recall or service bulletin regarding 4-5th gear problems. If the bike tire stopped while the engine was running at full torque, it is possible the actual gear was stripped. The speed ranges for most bikes in 4th are 15-70mph and in 5th 25-90+mph. Only a good forensic physicist seeing what impact damage, skids, etc. could make an educated guess of the collision speed. It would be easy if the car that hit the bike is new enough to have a crash info recorder and that the police impounded the vehicle to preserve the evidence.
