It was the "Real Thing". My mother has a friend that has an original bottle - hmmm wonder what it tastes like now and what kind of affect it would have.

The original Coca-Cola did once contain nine milligrams of cocaine per glass and it was first sold as a medicinal drink, the cocaine was removed in 1903 and now just contains the coca flavoring along with the Kola nuts as a flavoring and the source of caffeine in Coca-Cola I'm guessing going with Coca-Cola rather than Coca-Kola was done for marketing reasons..

I read somewhere that Coke buys the cocaine leaves after the drug has been processed out of them to use as the mainstay of their flavouring base.

It's a derivative of the Coca plant that they still use i believe. When they first introduced it from what I understand it was really cocaine that was in the Coca Cola.
