It was the "Real Thing". My mother has a friend that has an original bottle - hmmm wonder what it tastes like now and what kind of affect it would have.
I like to think it was cocaine. Cool...
It was Sigmund Freud's favorite white substance.

The original Coca-Cola did once contain nine milligrams of cocaine per glass and it was first sold as a medicinal drink, the cocaine was removed in 1903 and now just contains the coca flavoring along with the Kola nuts as a flavoring and the source of caffeine in Coca-Cola I'm guessing going with Coca-Cola rather than Coca-Kola was done for marketing reasons..
From my research it was Cocaine in a can baby. hehehe. Well it was minor amounts and so on top of that and not being snorted.. the effects were just like caffiene just that it was HORRIBLY addictive see coke-a-cola just wanted some addicted coke drinkers to make em' some dough!
It was cocaine! Back then it was being used for alot of different things!
I read somewhere that Coke buys the cocaine leaves after the drug has been processed out of them to use as the mainstay of their flavouring base.
It's a derivative of the Coca plant that they still use i believe. When they first introduced it from what I understand it was really cocaine that was in the Coca Cola.

Wow, an original bottle! I wonder when they stopped making the original formula.

Way past the expiration - I think the they stopped making that formula in the 1920's or the 1930's. Not sure though.

Then I fear the ingredients have already lost their "kick".
