well, I met my partner online on Planetout.com. we emailed back and forth a few times, and then talked on the phone a few times and found we had a lot in common. I didn't want her to feel pressured. I thought we should meet casually and see if we really hit it off. So, I just asked her if she'd like to meet for a casual dinner....I didn't really call it a "date," although it was. We hit it off right away. But I didn't want to set up some fancy dinner where it felt like a "date." We've been together 3 1/2 years now.

If you are in a relationship end it before you start hunting around, All I get from the question is that you have a friend and want somebody else, either as a third wheel or instead of. Since it does not really tell us anything there is not much advice we can give.

keep it simple. i'd just ask if she wanted to join me for some type of activity where you could get some good one on one time in. if you feel comfortable and want to be clear, you could just ask if she was interested in going on a date with you & if so, when is she free?
