Yes, the best thing that worked for me was every morning when you wake up, remind yourself why you broke up. It's hard to not think about the good times, but you have to force yourself to think about the reasons it would never work between yo to. It'll take some time to get over, don't expect it to not hurt for some time. Like all wounds, they do heal with time.

I ended two. The firast one was my now ex wife. We were married almost 11 years. She cheated on me and was continually cruel and cold towards me near the end. The second was a 4 year live in relationship. She was a psycho who was extremely jealous of any woman I even said hi to. I just kept reminding myself over and over the reasons I broke up with them both in the first place and it made it alot easier to forget them.

I think that you should avoid all contact with ther person. It may seem nice to be friends but it usually just ends up hurting someone in the end cause then someone wants more than the other. But to get over him or her. Put there pics away. Stay busy so you dont have time to think about them!

Whenever I've ended a long-term relationship I was already over it. :)
