For me it was Voldemort's reaction to Bellatrix's death.

The true Albus Dumbledore was a surprise to me..(spent most of the time confused about the elder wand though)

That harry actually lived was the most surprising. i really thought he was going to die. i loved that he had babies :D

BELLATRIX'S DEATH. DAMN DID THAT KILL A PART OF ME. DAMN! Haha. I'm a Bellatrix fan...can you tell? And Snape. WTF?! AHHHH!

I was sure that Harry would die in the last book, so I was pleasantly surprised that he lived. (And married, and had kids!)
