Indeed, I would. I remember seeing those when I was growing up in Erie, PA. That was back when we had the plates "You've got a friend in ... BBB-444" I was 6. I didn't realize it read "You've got a friend in ... Pennsylvania (shown below the tag ID)" This is purely a wild guess, but I would guess that NY has had new plates for at least 8 years. Now checking wikipedia for the actual number... Okay, you don't know that I just spent 30 minutes trying to track this one down, but I did. Wikipedia didn't have the answer for me so I started using tactical search strings in Google and finally hit pay dirt. I wasn't too far off! Turns out the Liberty plates stopped being valid in 2001 (7 years ago)! The New York Times ran an article in 2003 talking about the onset of $200 fines for non-compliance in changing their plate. I am in NYS and I have 3 letters, followed by 4 numbers. At the top of the plate is the Manhattan skyline, and Niagara Falls. The Liberty plate is no longer valid..Have a Great Day!!
