You've picked a really bad time to go into real estate in the US. Based on past experience, it will take the average housing market in a given city about 10 years to recover the robust levels of a couple of years ago.

Real estate is a little soft at this point in time. Even hot markets have cooled a good bit. Have you ever considered real estate law ? Good jobs and business opportunities are available there. You would still have real estate sales as a backup or sideline. Where? I think any coastal Florida area will recover sooner rather than later. Las Vegas, Reno, Seattle and central California are good possibilities as well as coastal communities in the north east. Much change, for better or worse, could take place before you complete your education.
