Why do self-tanning lotions turn fair skin orange? Are there any that don't do this?

I think it's from using some of the self tanning lotion in a bottle.

Usually the orange people are a result of self tanning creams and spray's, not the beds.

The reason why tanning lotions turn you orange is the DHA (Dihydroxyacetone) chemical in all of the products. If you try out www.instatan.com you can order a bottle of instatan tanning spray that does not contain DHA. This works great and wont turn you orange. I use it all the time
