You're reading I paid back child support paid through IRS. The state has no record of it. How can I get a copy of this from the IRS when they tell me I need to go to the state to get it?

I have the same exact problem. Have had my tax refund witheld for the last 17 years, when I ask the irs for an accounting of what is still owed, and what has been paid, they send me to the state (in this case, states) for that information. All the states in question, have no record of recieving any monies from the IRS, and they redirect me back to the IRS for information. Its a viscious circle. With no ascertainable end in sight. If I am lucky enough to solve this problem, I will post the solution as quickly as possible, as I know personally of several other individuals with the same problem.
