I paid back child support paid through IRS. The state has no record of it. How can I get a copy of this from the IRS when they tell me I need to go to the state to get it?

I'm guessing what you're saying is that the IRS took your refund to pay back child support. Is that right? The state would have had to file a lien on any tax refund you had coming to you. Many states have a website where you can see all of the funds that you have paid. I'm not sure if this would show up there or not. If you were due a refund from IRS and didn't receive it, maybe they sent you a letter telling you they were sending your refund to child support?
