The order that set the child support may address how it changes as each child becomes emancipated, however, this sometimes requires asking the court to modify the order. Most states determine child support based upon a formula that considers the incomes of each parent, number of children or dependants, and whether there is a financial "hardship" in either household. Again, a family law attorney could review the order to determine how or if it should be adjusted.
