His not being neutered is definitely going to be contributing. When a dog hits sexual maturity and attains his full adult weight, he often starts to get territorial. If you don't want to breed him, I would suggest getting him neutered, as a start; this has other benefits, as well, as older males (especially those which aren't bred, or aren't bred frequently) are prone to testicular cancer. If you intend to breed him and don't want to get him neutered, then it's important to get him into obedience and socialization classes, and your trainer should have some suggestions for reducing territoriality and barking at home. Come to that, it would be useful for you and he to get such classes even if he does get neutered.
