nasal irrigation will be of much help as it will allow the excess mucus to flow and moisturize the nasal cavity.. for more info on it click on the link http://health.top54u.com/post/Nasal-allergy-relief.aspx

Pick up your home phone and call a doctor.

Are you sure the smell is originating in your nose? Maybe you forgot to rinse out a sponge in the kitchen sink. Does the smell get stronger as you move around the house? Seriously If you know you this is a bacterial infection does that mean you've been to a doctor? I haven't read the link about irrigation, but if it doesn't address bacterial infections or your problem in some broader sense and you haven't been to a doctor, I would be hesitant. If you have been to a doctor then call him.

You can clear it out with diluted salt water (just snort a bit, wait, then blow) then call your Doctor. Clearing out the smell isn't fixing the problem. It isn't going away on its own.

If I'm reading this correctly, this question was asked in February of 2006 and first answered in July of 2008; in which case this person surely has made a full recovery, gotten medical attention, been disfigured or died from complications, or a combination thereof.
